We declare our praises by acknowledging "Who God Is, Giving Thanks for ALL He Has done, and reaffirming His Greatness! We display our Praises in many different ways, such as; raising our hands (1 Timothy 2:8), clapping our hands (Psalm 47:1) and giving thanks (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
Whereas "True Worship" is where we quietly enter into the beauty of God's Holy presence and our lives are forever changed! Here our vocal praises cease, as we humbly find "God Speaking to Us" and there is that realization that we are entering into a "Holy, Sacred Place" where we bend our head, fall to our knees and try to grasp that we have entered into the "Holy of Holies"!!
Worship is where those who seek God with their whole heart will find Him, a place where they will never be the same again!
Such was Isaiah's understanding of worship in the following passage: (Isaiah 6:1-5 - if you can, read the entire chapter.)
In the year that King Uzziah died I saw also the "Lord, sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and His train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphim: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And, one cried unto another, and said, "Holy, Holy, Holy", is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. And, the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
Then said I, "Woe is me! For I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts".
Worship changed Isaiah's life the moment he saw the Lord, high and lifted up with His train filling the temple. Isaiah cried out, "Woe is me"! Worship, true worship is seeing God for whom He is.... HOLY and realizing who we are... sinners saved by grace!
Worship almost always is confused with "praise," even by those of us who ought to know better. It's not clapping our hands or lifting them up in a church service, it's not giving thanks, with convenient lip service!
Worship is all about loving, seeking and appreciating "the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, our God Almighty"! It is a yearning in our hearts that is not satisfied with a few sacrificial praises!
God alone sees our hearts and He knows our true motives. Worship is our intention to seek Him wholeheartedly, to know Him fully, and completely in all respects!!
This is the absolute difference between "Praise and Worship:" the sacrifice of praise is the "Cry of Our Lips to Give Thanks to God", while Worship is the "Cries, or the Roar of Our Hearts to Know Him Absolutely"!!
It is possible to lift your mouth and your lips in praise, while your mind is somewhere else... and your heart is nowhere near true worship to the King!!
Isaiah was completely right when he prophesied, "You hypocrites, you give me your mouth and your lips, but your mind is somewhere else. Your heart is nowhere near me!"
Matthew 15:7-8
I've said this before, but it bids saying again, "Christianity is not for the faint of heart, it is for Warriors whose desire to know and to please God is never-ending"!!!
