![]() I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20 A farmer found an abandoned eagle's nest and in it was as egg that was still warm. He took the egg back to his farm and laid it in the nest of one of his hens. The egg hatched and the baby eaglet grew up with the other chickens. It pecked about the farmyard, scrabbling for grain. It spent it's life within the yard and rarely looked up. However, one day when it was very old, it lifted up it's head and saw above it a most wonderful sight. There was an eagle soaring high above in the sky. Looking at it, the old creature sighed and said to itself, "If only I'd been born an eagle!" ![]() For many, we are at church for every service, we give our offerings and tithes and we serve on the board or wherever we find our niche. We may always be busy going about God's work, yet like the eaglet, we never truly learn or know our identity in the Lord Jesus Christ. We need to know who we are in Christ, so that He can fulfill His purpose and His plan for our lives. I don't want to walk with the chickens, if I can soar with the eagles!! And, until we learn, "who we are in Jesus Christ" we may never reach our true potential in Him. Do you know who you are in Christ? If you have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, you are the following: I am a child of God! John 1:12 - But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. I have been Justified and Redeemed! Romans 3:24 - Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus... My old self has been crucified with Christ, I am no longer a slave to sin! Romans 6:6 - Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. I am no longer under condemnation from God! Romans 8:1 - There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. I have been set free from the law of sin and death! Romans 8:2 - For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. As a child of God, I am a fellow heir with Christ! Romans 8:17 - And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. I have been accepted by Christ! Romans 15:7 - Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God. I am a new creature in Christ Jesus! 2 Corinthians 5:17 - Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. I am a friend of Jesus! John 15:15 - "Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you." I am blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places! Ephesians 1:3 - Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. In Jesus Christ, I have wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption! 1 Corinthians 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption... I am joined to the Lord and I am one Spirit with Him! 1 Corinthians 6:17 - But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. My body is a temple and the Holy Spirit dwells within me! 1 Corinthians 6:19 - What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? My mind clearly sees the Truth in Christ Jesus! 2 Corinthians 3:14 - But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. I have been set free in Christ Jesus! Galatians 5:1 - Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. My friend, these are just some of the wonderful scriptures and attributes we can claim, by being a child of God!! There are plenty more to be found in the Bible! When you find yourself discouraged, read and meditate on these scriptures. Find your oneness in Christ Jesus and believe what He has said you are!! ![]() And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment, And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment. Luke 7:37,38 I desire to come to Jesus, like the woman who touched the hem of His garment and was healed (Matthew 9:20-22). I want to stand before Him like the maiden who was dead, but Jesus gave her life once more (Matthew 9:23-25). And, I come to Jesus as the sinner I am, saved by His grace, like the woman who came with a bottle of very expensive perfume and stood at his feet, weeping, raining tears on his feet. Letting down her hair, she dried his feet, kissed them, and anointed them with the perfume (Luke 7:36-38). I am nothing in myself, but in Christ my Lord, I am a child of the King! I have been chosen by Him! He knew me while I was yet in my mother's womb (Jeremiah 1:5) and somehow He still wanted and embraced me. Yes, I have been chosen to be His child! And, my Jesus offers you this same promise, if you will believe and come to Him. Long before God, my Father laid the foundations of this world, He had you and me in His thoughts. He decided that His love would be concentrated on us and that we would be made whole in Him. God wanted us to participate in the celebration of His love. And, I have been adopted into that love, according to His will and purpose for my life (Ephesians 1:4-6). God sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for you and I. And, when I gave my life to Jesus, He accepted me with open arms. Sometimes this is just so hard to believe -- but I know it to be true!! I am a child of God!! We cannot doubt the facts my friends! I think of Thomas, he talked and walked with Jesus. He sat at Jesus' feet and learned first hand and yet when Jesus rose from the dead, Thomas needed to see and touch His nail scarred hands to believe that it was Jesus. While there were those that believed, because they saw -- Jesus states in His Word, "Blessed are they that have not seen and yet have believed" (John 20:28,29). Isn't it wonderful -- we are blessed the moment we believe! And, there is another promise -- Jesus promises to accept all who would come to Him and those that do come... will never be cast out (John 6:37). You will not be turned away, friend!! And, this is just a partial description of who you and I are, in Christ Jesus. While we are CHOSEN, ADOPTED and ACCEPTED -- there is so much more my friend!!! I pray that knowing who you are in Christ Jesus will take you to a more loving and cherished relationship with Him! May God pour out His blessings on you today!! ![]() And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. Revelation 21:6 I lay in bed last night thinking, I wanted to get to the nitty-gritty and the reality of who Jesus is to me! So, I asked Him and then I patiently waited for an answer. I thought about the words in Revelation 21:6 where Jesus said, "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end." And, then the Lord began to answer, He said, "I was, I am and I will always be the authority and origin of life itself. I was there at your beginning, even before you were established and created. I am and will be with you at the conclusion of this physical life for, I am your first eternal breath." I was literally stunned and amazed as I truly realized that Jesus is my beginning and will be my end here on earth. Marvelously, He will be my first eternal "breath of life," just as He was my first breath in this physical life. Consequently I will live forever with Him. When I actually thought about these words, it all became so palpable, so evident and so very real to me. My Lord, my Savior, my Jesus is EVERYTHING to me. He sustains, comforts and preserves me. When I came to Jesus, He made all things new in me. My life became a new creation in Him and all the old "stuff" in me began to crumble. If you know Jesus personally and believe His Word -- He has done the same for you! And, if you don't know Him, He waits patiently for you to accept and believe His promises for you. Jesus is the Alpha (beginning), the Omega (ending) and He is everything in between! Sometimes, it's all so much to grasp -- I only have glimpses of Heaven from God's Word, but I know there is so much more that I haven't even begun to comprehend!! I am excited and I am hungry to know Him more each day. I am thirsty to know and make Jesus fully alive in my soul!! Friends, there is so much to learn about our Lord and He bids us come. Oh, I pray we will come and sit at His feet, as we digest and absorb ALL that He is!! My Jesus is truly everything to me and I want more of Him every day! ![]() Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6 If you've been reading my blog, you know that today I will be discussing the final portion of John 14:6. And, it is the most thrilling part as I see it, for my JESUS is LIFE!! Jesus was just talking to His disciples about His impending death, but now He was proclaiming to be the "Source of ALL Life" ( Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. John 10:17). Jesus declared that He would lay down His life for His sheep, but then He would take it back. Jesus also spoke of His authority over life and death as being granted to Him by God, His father. Jesus brings to each of us who believe on Him, "Life" eternal. Jesus declared and gave us the promise, that because He lives, we too shall live (Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. John 14:19) The redemption and salvation that Jesus was about to provide us, was not of a political or social nature. Jesus was about to die on the cross to deliver us from a life of bondage to sin and death. He was going to the cross to bring us joy, liberty and eternal life. Yes, Jesus declared Himself the "Great I Am!" He is the only path to righteousness and the only true measure of righteousness. Jesus alone is the source of ALL physical and spiritual LIFE! He said all these things so the disciples would be able to face the dark days ahead of them and carry on the mission of proclaiming the Gospel to the world. Did they understand all of this?? Not entirely, but they would learn the Truth and that Truth was Jesus. Once the disciples had several visits from the Lord and realized that He was no longer in the grave, their lives were permanently changed. They were never to be the same again and neither was this world! My friend, once you realize that Jesus brings us Life here and Life Eternal, you will be changed! You will not fear what man can do to you. You will not fear sickness or death. Your eyes will be fixed on Jesus for He is, "the Great I Am, the Way, the Truth and the Life!!" ![]() Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6 So far I've talked about Jesus, the great "I Am" and "The Way," today lets tackle Jesus as "The Truth." I am not speaking of just the truth we speak, I am speaking the source of ALL Truth, which has been given to Jesus by the Father. Jesus is Truth! There was a time in our nation and there may still be courts who swear in a witness by asking them to place their hand on the Bible and affirm the following oath; "Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help you God?" The witness would then say, "I do." When a young Midwesterner enters the US army he to utters the oath of enlistment, and he declares that he will support and defend the Constitution, bear true faith and allegiance and obey orders, "So help me God." And, when a Londoner or Mancunian (resident of England) enlisted in the British armed forces, he swears "by Almighty God" to be faithful to the Crown. The truth was an intricate and complex characteristic that led to God in our judicial system and our military. It is believed that when someone swore or affirmed that they would tell the truth, that they would do just that or face whatever God would do with them. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus reminded His listeners of several points of the Law, then said, "But I say unto you..." (See Matthew 5:22, 28, 32, 34, 39, & 44 ) thereby, Jesus equated Himself with the Law of God and the authoritative and basic ideals of righteousness and truth. Jesus came to this world to fulfill the law of the prophets (Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. Matthew 5:17). And, Jesus as the incarnate, embodiment Word of God, is the source of ALL truth (In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1 ). When we chose to believe and follow Jesus Christ, we are walking in complete and total TRUTH! Jesus becomes and is our accepted approach to "All Truth." My friend, if you are seeking truth, look to God's Word! |
