Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. PROVERBS 18:21
YOU CHOOSE TO SPEAK
KINDLY OR NOT!
WORDS WE USE BEFORE WE THINK
Our "WORDS" come so quickly at times that they do more harm than any good you can imagine! And the people who use those words will often say, "They got what they deserved!!"
On April 20, 1999, Cassie Rene Benali was a student killed in the Columbine High School Massacre at the tender age of 17. It was reported that Cassie had been asked whether or not she believed in God before being shot and she said, "Yes, I believe in God!"
A young girl who was shot down in the prime of her life was killed for believing in God. I wonder how many of us including myself would say, "Yes, I believe in God" if we knew we would be shot for saying those very same words!
On July 13, 2014, Michelle Carter encouraged a boy to commit suicide by texting him over and over to just do it! Her "WORDS" convinced young Conrad Roy who was 18 to get back into his truck which was filling with carbon monoxide when he
had became scared and had exited the truck.
Michelle's trial prosecutors said Michelle had pushed Roy over the edge noting he had tried to kill himself several times
before and had backed out. They also said that Michelle was desperate for attention and sympathy from
classmates, and wanted to play the role of a
grieving girlfriend!
Those who love to talk without thinking will most definitely suffer the consequences. Many have been killed for saying
the wrong thing at the right time!
LIFE GIVING WORDS
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
JOHN 14:6
Jesus is the WORD of God, He is the divine-human WORD our souls need for life, love, and growth. For Paul, the terms "Proclaim Christ" and "Speak the Word of Christ" are synonymous. The mission of his life and our lives
is to testify to the gospel of the Grace and
Love of Jesus!
The Bible is "The WORD of TRUTH, the GOSPEL and the LIFE" which not only comes to us for conversation but to also bear fruit and grow! It is the "Word of Truth and Grace" for each of us to love one another.
The "WORDS" of Christ are both life-giving and life-changing!
As crucial as it is for us to have spiritual life, it is that we
also have the "Words of Christ" in our daily living!
This world is lost! Almost daily you hear the senseless brutalities, thoughtless killings, that devastate and
pillage our cities! And these tragedies most likely
start with ugly words!
If we are not reading our Bibles, we lose the most precious
and genuine words of life and love! Our lives need to
be saturated with Godliness and the genuine words
of life that are only found in the Scriptures!
May God give us the passion we need to shape our daily
lives with His Word, the wisdom to shower our days with His voice, and the creativity to empower our lives, and the lives
of those around us with fresh routines for regularly availing ourselves of Jesus' life-giving words!
