Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7
WHY SHOULD CHRISTIANS PRAY
In this time, day, and age when all the world seems to broken and even senseless, do we need to even ask ourselves, "Why Pray?" I think not!
We need to pray because 'Prayer Defeats Satan!' There is a powerful, cunning, scheming, deceptive, determined, and vicious enemy and he is after anyone he can utterly destroy and devour. Look at what God's Word States: The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. JOHN 10:10
DEALING WITH THE DEVIL
The first step in dealing with the devil is prayer... and lots of it. Prayer puts you at God's disposal! It makes you as clay in the hands of the potter.
It enables you to say, "Thy will be done!" And it brings you to a place of complete surrender.
Then, as with Isaiah, you can say sincerely, "Here I am, send me." Look at God's Word: I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" Then said I, "Here am I; send me." ISAIAH 6:8
GOD HAS GIVEN US THE KEYS OF HIS KINGDOM
Because prayer places God in your corner and allows Him to work on your behalf. Certainly, God is not an errand boy who will jump every time you or I make a request in prayer. But, He has yielded to us the Keys of His Kingdom.
The power He has is available to those He can trust with it. Note what Jesus said: "Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. MARK 11:24 And also: "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. JOHN 15:7
James declared, "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." JAMES 5:16 When we make 'prayer a priority' in our lives, much can be accomplished!
AMERICA NEEDS PRAYING CHRISTIANS, BELIEVERS
This nation is in desperate need of a praying people that will stay on their knees, before God long enough and often enough, so we will lay hold of the power of God in our life and in others lives. (if you can't kneel that's okay)
So much can get done if and when we take the time to pray, honestly, earnestly and fervently before God. There is growth in grace, blessings like showers upon a parched land and there is a "Christ-likeness" that blossoms in us.
START SMART -- BUILD YOUR PRAYER LIFE A LITTLE AT A TIME
You may say, "I'm not a praying person, I can't spend hours in prayer as I wouldn't know what to say!" I'm just asking that we START -- it may be five minutes that develops into ten, fifteen or even twenty minutes.
Our relationship with God grows when we spend time with Him in prayer. Is your life void of revival in Christ, just spend enough time in prayer so that you may walk tall and strong for Him and through Him.
SO, WHY PRAY
One of the most effective tricks of Satan is to make us think that just a little talk with Jesus makes all things right. Now, that may be true when we are on the road, in a school classroom or at work where a little talk with Jesus is very helpful.
Still, there must be some big talks with Jesus, long and regular talks too! And He must talk with us if we are to become mature and strong.
WONDERING IF PRAYER WORKS
Do you ever think or wonder if your prayers are doing anything at all?? It's time for every believer to realize the 'Power of Prayer,' the delight in a strong prayer life, and the benefits to you and to the Kingdom when you pray!
Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7
Don't fret or worry, instead of being burdened daily, pray! Let your petitions and your praises shape your worries into prayers! If you do this, you will experience God's peace that transcends all understanding and keeps your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus!
It's wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.
WHEN I SAY:
When I say, "I'm a believer." I'm whispering, "I get lost" that is why I choose the Lord to guide me.
When I say, "I Love the Lord." I'm not speaking this with pride. I'm confessing that I stumble and I need Him to be my guide.
When I say, "I need the Lord." I'm professing that I am weak in myself and I pray for God's strength to carry on.
When I say, "I trust Jesus." I'm admitting I have failed and cannot ever pay the debt that Jesus paid for me.
When I say, "I need Truth." I'm not claiming to be perfect. My flaws are too visible but God believes I'm worth something.
When I say, "I feel the Sting of Pain." I am saying I have my share of heartaches and sorrow, but that is why I seek His name!
When I say, "I Need to PRAY." I do not wish to judge your life. I have no authority over your walk, I only know I am loved by a Savior who walks, talks and is willing to have a personal relationship with me.
That's "Why I Pray! And, I'll be praying for you!"
