righteousness: for they shall be filled.
MATTHEW 5:6
WHAT'S FOR DINNER MOM
I remember when my boys would come home from school and ask, "Mom, I'm starving; what's for supper?" By then, I would have usually started cooking and answered their question.
If it was a particular food they loved, I knew they would come marching into the house instantly as soon as they saw their dad pulling into the driveway. And it wasn't because they were starving; they were extremely hungry after their lively basketball games.
WHAT DO WE HUNGER FOR
When Jesus said, "The one who hungers and thirsts for righteousness will find that hunger met," He was not talking about someone who had a mere appetite; He was talking about a starving person or other cases.
God made us in such a way that we couldn't exist long without food. So, what is a starving person interested in:
- The latest football scores?
- The flower arrangement at the pink lemonade society?
- The number of stars in the universe?
LIVING FOR THE ETERNAL THINGS IN LIFE
Research tells us that a person can go three minutes without oxygen, three days without water, and three weeks without food. However, some extraordinary members of our species have broken and redefined these and other limits in cases of human survival.
WHERE IS OUR FOCUS
In the spiritual realm of eternity, man cannot exist one second without Christ Jesus. May God help us to narrow our focus to hunger and thirst first and foremost for Him!
It might just result in bringing glory to God and saving a multitude of souls. O that we might have such a desire to know God!
