And Jesus looking upon them saith, "With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God ALL things are possible."
Mark 10:27
Yesterday, I spoke about my son Jimmy who was lost and on street drugs. I also spoke about how I prayed for his soul and deliverance from all drugs. So You might have to read Part 1 to fully understand my story.
However, when it was one month and I hadn't heard from Jimmy, I began to reconstruct my prayer life. I suddenly began to truly understand "The Story of the Persistent Widow" in the Bible book of Luke 18.
Jesus was speaking a parable regarding our commitment and perseverance in prayer. It is in respect to this widowed woman who consistently was going before a judge asking him to assist and accommodate her in the adversity she was facing.
Yes, the judge withheld his help from her: however afterwards he began to think to himself, I don't respect nor do I fear God, and I do not concern myself with what the people may think or say. However, this woman is insistent and unyielding she is an incessant bother to me.
And, with that thought he said, "I will absolve and deliver this woman, lest she relentlessly annoy and exhaust my patience!"
Listen, to this most important part... The Lord Jesus said, "Shall not God avenge his own elect which cry day and night unto Him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man comes, shall he find faith on the earth?" Luke 18:7,8
Jesus was clearly saying, will not God make the things that are right come to His chosen people who cry out day and night to Him? Will he wait a long time to help them?
No! I would tell you that Jesus will not only help us in our prayer but, he will be quick to help us, when we are faithful to Him in our prayers! When we refuse to 'never give up' and not yield to the lies of the enemy!!
My prayer life had changed once more simply because, I refused to give up on my son, nor would I give up on his addiction to the drugs. I not only prayed throughout the night, I also prayed through to my Lord, I prayed unhindered on the grounds of 'not ceasing' in the name of Jesus!
I prayed as even Michael the archangel prayed when grappling with the devil and he said, "The Lord rebuke thee!" So, I cried out with the same words, "The Lord rebuke thee, Satan you can't have my son even if I need to pray night and day!"
I wrote out my prayer in my prayer book and I read it daily, sometimes hourly... I would cry out to God unhindered, confidently and with great expectancy! My friends, I won't lie there, were times when the enemy taunted me, but I continued to ask my Lord to rebuke him and send him on his way, after taking his claws off of my Jimmy!!
Then I learned Jimmy was in jail... To Be Continued in Part 3
