Romans 8:28
There were many prayers lifted up on Jimmy's behalf, at all hours of the day and night, by us and the people on our prayer chain. It was good to know we were not alone in the process of getting back our son.
We asked God to show us how to pray for the felonies and the possible prison time he might have to serve.
Updates came with Jimmy's permission, they were given to us almost on a daily basis by his attorney. Jim had lost everything, including his home and family by the drugs the USAF had him on.
Then one day his attorney called and said a gang had stolen Jimmy's identity and also had pictures of his children walking to school. They had threatened to kill his kids if Jimmy didn't do what they said.
Loving his boys and his daughter, he said he would do anything to keep them alive. So this is how he had racked up some of his charges of burglary and drugs with intent to sell.
We knew God had put us in touch with Jim's attorney, but we soon learned how much of a "God Send" he truly was. He asked us to send him a letter of what Jimmy was like in his youth and since he had married and joined the USAF.
The letter stated that Jimmy was always a challenge, but he had done well in school, played varsity basketball, was able to move from Pennsylvania to North Carolina and bring the racial division in the school to a peaceful end. He would have no part of segregation and was friendly with everyone, soon others followed by his example.
He was told that he would never make the basketball team over the African Americans, but he still tried out and not only made the team, he made friends and played every game they had. In joining the USAF, he accelerated to the top of his field, winning one of twelve airmen in the world in 2008.
The lawyer took all this information and he was able to get many of the charges expunged, it was then that he went to his 'friend the bondsman' and was able to get a bond for Jimmy! Jimmy was released from jail in May of 2018 and went straight into rehab, this time he did awesome, and has been sober for one year as I write this.
Now, Jim goes back to the rehab center to speak about how the narcotics affected him and how good it is to be sober.
In January 2019 Jimmy went to court for the rest of his charges, the Judge told him that she reads every letter addressed to her concerning her defendants. She explained to Jimmy that there were too many to read about him, but the ones she did read all contained admiration, respect and praise.
She ordered Jimmy to five years probation with no prison time! She then complimented him on the letters she had read and his service to the rehab, by speaking to their clients.
Jim walked out of court that day basically as "a free man" not just physically but mentally! He has told us, "Jail was the best thing and the worst thing that has ever happened to me!"
I thank the Lord that He worked through not only my prayers but those who also prayed for Jimmy on the prayer chain. It may have taken 20 plus years, but now it's worth it all!!!
We talk to Jimmy on a regular basis and I still text him every night with a scripture verse, letting him know I love him and I continue to pray for him ALL the time!
