MATTHEW 11:28-30
WHEN MOSES GREW WEARY
In the Israelite's battle against the Amalekites, Moses held
up his hands, and they won the war. But when he tired
and put his hands down, they would begin
to lose the fight.
So when Moses' hands were heavy; they took a stone, and
put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur
held up his hands, one on one side and the other on
the other side; and his hands were steady until
the going down of the sun.
WE ALL GET TIRED AND NEED REST
Are you tired? Are you worn out? Has religion just burned you out? Jesus is saying, "Come to me. Get away and be alone with me so that you'll recover your life. I will show you how to take a real rest."
Jesus desires us to walk simply with him! He says, "Work with me -- watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting come upon you. Keep company with me, and you will learn to live freely and lightly."
THE APOSTLES WERE TIRED
In Mark 6, we read how the apostles had come to Jesus and reported all that they had done and taught. Jesus said to them, "Come off by yourselves; let's take a break and get a little rest."
There had been constant coming and goings, and the apostles hadn't even had time to eat. So they got into the boat with Jesus and went to a remote place alone. However, someone saw them going, and the word got around.
THE PEOPLE STILL FOLLOWED THEM
People went out on foot, running from the surrounding towns, and got there ahead of them. When Jesus arrived, he saw this huge crowd. At the sight of them, his heart broke--like sheep with no shepherd, he went to work teaching them.
When the disciples thought this had gone on long enough because it was now quite late in the day, they interrupted: "We are a long way out in the country, and it's very late. Pronounce a benediction and send these folks off so they can get some supper."
WEARY AND WORN
It was obvious that they were weary, worn, and tired!
It's not wrong to feel worn out by our fast-paced world. But stepping aside and getting the rest we need is essential.
It's crucial to refuel in the presence of Jesus!
WHEN MY STRENGTH NEEDS RENEWING
I go into the presence of the Lord, and I take time
to worship, praise and then I read
The Warriors Prayer below:
My Warrior’s Prayer
Heavenly Father, Your Warrior is preparing for battle once again. Today I claim Victory over Satan by putting on the
Whole Armor of God!
I put on the Girdle of Truth!
May I stand firm in the truth of your Word
so I will not be a victim of Satan’s lies!
I put on the Breastplate of Righteousness!
May it guard my heart against evil so I will
remain pure and Holy, protected under the
blood of Jesus Christ.
I put on the Shoes of Peace!
May I stand firm in the good news of the
gospel so your peace will shine through me
and be a light to all I encounter.
I take the Shield of Faith!
May I be ready for Satan’s fiery darts of doubt,
denial and deceit, so I will not be vulnerable to
spiritual defeat.
I put on the Helmet of Salvation!
May I keep my mind focused on you so Satan will
not have a stronghold on my thoughts.
I take the Sword of the Spirit!
May the two-edged sword of Your Word be ready
in my hands so that I can expose the tempting words of Satan.
By Faith, Your Warrior has put on the Whole Armor of God!
I am prepared to live this day in Spiritual Victory! Amen.
