Far away and long ago, there once was a place in a town known as; The House of 1000 Mirrors. There was also a small, happy little dog who learned of this place and decided to visit.
When he arrived, he bounced happily up the stairs to the doorway of the house. He looked through the doorway with his ears lifted high and his tail wagging as fast as it could.
To his great surprise, he found himself staring at 1000 other happy little dogs with their tails wagging just as fast as his. He smiled a great smile and was answered with 1000 great smiles just as warm and friendly as his own.
As he left the house, he thought to himself, "This is a wonderful place! I will have to visit often!"
In the same village, another little dog, who was not quite as happy as the first one... decided to visit the house. He very slowly climbed the stairs and hung his head low as he gazed into the room. There he saw 1000 unfriendly looking dogs staring back at him. Afraid he growled at them and was horrified to see 1000 little dogs growling back at him.
He immediately left the room and hurried away. As he ran he thought to himself, "This is a horrible place! I will never go back there again!
It is a simple little story of the two dogs in the house of 1000 mirrors, however it holds some simple basic truths. Whatever we give or whatever we portray to others will always come back to us!
It is not a pleasant experience to be criticized and condemned when we are feeling down and out. When people pounce upon our failures and lunge into our blunders, life becomes just a little more difficult.
Before you condemn those who are floundering or not meeting your standards, take a moment to think and to try to put yourself in their situation. Life easily has a boomerang effect... that just might knock you off your feet, someday.
When you "give away your life"; you will find that your "life is given back" to you, and not slightly, but given back with blessings far beyond what you could imagine. Giving, not getting is always the way to through this life.
Your smile, almost always brings you a smile. Your compassion, almost always brings compassion your way. And... your generosity, almost always begets... generosity! Still, should it not return the way you thought it would... you can still take comfort in the peace that it ALWAYS brings!
All the faces in the world are mirrors. What kind of reflections do you see in the faces of the people you meet?
