Humble yourselves in the sight of the of Lord, and He shall lift you up. JAMES 4:1
WHAT THE WORLD WANTS YOU TO THINK
"You've got to look out for number one."
"You have to assert yourself if you want to get ahead!"
Statements like these guide many who seek to advance their careers or gain a sought-after promotion. Books and seminars guide people onward and upward on how to sell themselves so that they can advance in life. Peter, however, taught that God adds His favor to the humble, not the proud!
WHAT GOD WANTS YOU TO THINK
True humility seeks to honor God and others. Godly humility allows people to submit to authority and to others because these individuals understand that God takes care of their needs and will reward and honor them in His way and His time.
Once we let go of the pressures to honor oneself leaves, freedom to serve others emerges! God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble!
When God, who is the best shepherd of all, comes out in the open with His rule, he'll see that you've done it right and commend you lavishly. And you who are younger must follow your leaders.
And all of you, leaders and followers alike, are to be down to earth with each other. Be content with who you are, and don't put on airs.
God's strong hand is on you; he'll promote you at the right time. Live carefree before God; as he is most careful with you.
GOD GETS THE LAST WORD
Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce and would like nothing better than to catch you napping, so keep your guard up.
You are not the only ones plunged into hard times where every- one is looking to get to the top of the employee ladder! Be kind to everyone, and help one another.
It's the same with Christians all over the world. So keep a firm grip on your faith. The bottom wrung won't be yours forever.
GOD HAS A PLAN AND A PURPOSE FOR YOUR LIFE
Before long our generous God who has great plans for us in Christ-eternal and such glorious plans they are - will have you put together and on your feet for good. He gets the last word; yes, He does!
Christians can serve others in the freedom and power of the Holy Spirit by understanding that God takes care of bringing them all the favor and honor they need and desire!
