Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart,
all ye that hope in the Lord.
Psalm 31:24
A SIMPLE ASTHMA ATTACK OR SOMETHING MORE
On the evening of July 6, 2016, I began to have what I thought was an asthma attack. My breathing was shallow and labored, so I knew I needed to use my inhaler, which usually alleviated any symptoms I was having.
When that didn't help, I went to another "rescue inhaler" which I use in emergencies, but I remained in respiratory distress. At this point my husband, Don decided I needed a breathing treatment on my home nebulizer. After taking two treatments with no relief, Don called for an ambulance.
EMS ON SCENE
EMS arrived shortly and the paramedics determined I was not stable enough to move, so they gave me two more breathing treatments and a shot of epinephrine, which is used as a heart stimulant, to constrict blood vessels and to relax the bronchi in asthma. When this didn't work they did what I call a "scoop and run" to get me to the hospital.
I was given oxygen, received two more breathing treatments and a slow IV push of epinephrine in the emergency room as I struggled to breath. A chest x-ray showed my lungs as "full of rocks" according to the ER doctor and I was admitted to the hospital's Intermediate Telemetry Unit, as the Intensive Care Unit was full.
I was exhausted as I battled to breath... all while the charge nurse was busy admitting me, respiratory was hooking me up to a heart monitor and technicians were taking my vital signs.
LOVING CONCERNS
My husband stayed with me as much as he could... My brothers Lyle & Joe called me and I could hear the concern
in their voices. I also received a call from a loving nephew
Tony--my heart leaped with joy as I love all my family and
the calls encouraged my heart, because as you read below you'll see what the doctor told me.
The doctor told me I would never walk out of the hospital because my heart was only functioning at 30%. But, God had
spoken to me though and said, "It is my church that is only functioning at only 30%!" I knew God had different plans for me and I trusted Him to take care of me and allow me to
walk out of that hospital one day soon!
RESTING IN JESUS' EVERLASTING ARMS
I needed to pray... I needed to rest in my Savior's arms. Suddenly love seemed to emanate everywhere and peace saturated my entire being as we walked side by side and hand in hand.
Although I was positive we were "hand in hand", we never
touched. We communed with one another and yet we never
spoke a word. Deep down in my heart, I felt so at home...
as though I had been in this place my entire life.
As I looked around tall trees bore every kind of fruit as they swayed in the slightest of breezes. Flourishing beds of
tropical flowers blossomed with colors beyond what
I had ever seen adorning the babbling brook as it
flowed freely over cascading river rocks.
Peace dominated this place... it absorbed and consumed my
entire body. I had never been so comfortable and tranquil.
I was at home in a place I had never seen before.
AND... THERE IT WAS
Up ahead... a small footbridge crossed over the babbling brook. Our pathway bloomed with greenery amidst the flower
blossoms, their colors were a rarity. The path continued
upwards and high on a hillside I could see it... there is was an enormous city, a bright, illuminated kingdom, instinctively I knew it was HEAVEN.
I had an intense desire to run to the footbridge and cross
over to the region which seemed to beckon me... and then I
heard the words, "Not yet... not now... there is still work to be done. You tell them, I AM that I AM!"
BACK TO THE UNREMARKABLE
Inevitably and suddenly I heard, "Mrs. Weltin... Mrs. Weltin... Judy!" Oh who wants me... who is calling me away?? I was with my Lord and we were walking together along the banks of this rivulet... I didn't want to leave this place. Still, I could feel myself slipping away from this peaceful place.
I opened my eyes to see nurses and doctors around my bedside. The bliss and serenity I had felt in the moments before... seemed to be the contentment they felt the moment I opened my eyes and said, "Yes! Why did you wake me?"
Unexpectedly, my nursing and 15 years of volunteering on a rescue squad kicked in with the realization that I had just survived a "Code Blue!"
What is it? A "Code Blue" is generally used to indicate a patient requiring resuscitation or in need of immediate medical attention, most often as the result of a respiratory arrest or cardiac arrest.
I WOULD NEVER FORGET MY NEW MISSION
I had walked band talked with my Savior... I had seen
Heaven shining brightly... and all of that time, I thought I had been praying. However, it was real, I knew what I had experienced was real and one day I would go there
for all time!
For now I knew I had a "God given assignment!" I would
tell everyone I knew... I'm telling you; Jesus is the
GREAT I AM and He loves you!
If you died this day... "Do You Know Where You Would End Up?"
