Most parents have experienced a child waking up in the middle of the night due to a nightmare. Or perhaps your child had the 'monster' hiding in the closet or under the bed. So last Christmas I gave each of my seven grand- children a small flashlight. Later, one of them confessed a secret to me, "Nauna, this will help me when I am scared at night." All children need to feel safe and secure and they look to us as parents (and grandparents) to provide that safety and security.
I must admit that as an adult, I have also heard that "thump in the night!" I would then wake my husband up and ask, "Did you hear that?" Thankfully, he would get up and turn on the lights, as he went from room to room. Soon all the lights in the house were on and seeing that nothing was out of place, we would both return to bed, feeling safe and able to sleep once more.
I am so thankful that Jesus came to shine a light onto our sins and dispel the darkness within our lives. We don't have to walk around afraid or in despair any longer. We can walk openly and freely in Him. When we follow Christ we have a light that leads to abundant life and exuberant living.
If you are living in darkness... if fear overwhelms you... don't you think it's time to find the 'true and living light?' You can have a light that will lead you into truth and love. You can have a light that will never, ever go out! Jesus, He is the only real light of this world and He will never leave you or forsake you!
