I am a Christian and I believe the Bible is God's unfailing Word. I am free to believe this way, because of the fundamental rights that our nation was founded on.
Still, our country is changing along with the world and these changes don't seem to be for the good of all. And, I don't believe these changes are anything that our founding fathers would have approved of.
There are criminal activities that are now called "Hate Crimes!" These hate crimes now include but are not limited to, pastors preaching against homosexuality.
As a Christian I believe we should retain our rights to say, "I don't believe that the acts of homosexuality are moral and I believe it goes against God's Word." In saying so, I am not condemning homosexuals to hell, I am not judging them and I wouldn't want anyone to bully them.
They must realize that stereotyping those of us who stand up for what we believe in, is exactly what the gay community doesn't want done to them. As a Christian, I should be allowed to speak what I believe, just as everyone else should be able to speak what they believe as long as "we speak the truth in love!"
Freedom of speech in these United States is protected by the first amendment. This amendment codifies that our freedom of speech is a constitutional right.
I have said it before and I will say it again, we should not become so well-adjusted to our culture that we "fit in" without thinking about it. This world is not my home, I am just passing through on my way to my eternal home in heaven.
My thinking and my attention is focused on Jesus Christ and what He did for me at Calvary. I want to be changing and growing in Him, so that I can readily recognize what He wants from me and then respond to it.
I do not live for this world or our culture and I refuse to be dragged down to its way of thinking. My life has been given over to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and it is only Him I want to live for!
The only way for me to live and understand myself is by what God is and what He does for us. It has nothing to do with who I am or what I do for Him, because without Him, I am nothing!
So, to my friends I say, "May we care about and love everyone, but lets not lose ourselves or what we believe in doing so!"
