Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain... Joel 2:1
The world as we know it today is in a serious downward spiral, leaving people fearful and alarmed. Even the most mature Christian is left to wonder, “Where are we headed?” We have all seen bankruptcies in our savings and loan organizations, the mounting national debt, the rising costs of living, the rise in unemployment, and hunger.
We have seen the American dollar decline and many economists believe we are on the brink of another serious recession. One that will make the great depression of the 1930s look docile by comparison.
There is a flagrant and brazen rise in homosexuality and depraved behaviors and it feels as if we are headed towards another Sodom and Gomorrah!
There is an undercurrent for everyone to unite and be tolerant of each other. While this all sounds nice, I fear many will fall into the trap of a one world nation. We already see and hear that all roads lead to God and that is simply NOT TRUE! Jesus is the only way to heaven, He alone is our only hope in todays world.
An eerie sense of disaster looms over many and it seems as if there is no turning back. We are battling in a different kind of war these days. There is a holy war coming out of the east. We see Israel gearing up for not only war, but a final war.
We are seeing a complete turn of events, a total redefining of truth. The world is in the process of turning things upside down, and inside out. Good will be bad, and right will be wrong, complete confusion, and perversion.
Yes, we are facing some of the biggest changes in American history! Is it to late to change or reverse what is happening, I’m not sure. All l know is that my God is still in control!!
So, what can we do in all of this? We need a battle cry from Christians, “blow ye the trumpet” and “sound the alarm!”
Joel is calling the people of God to repentance! He is saying it is time for the church, to be the church that it was intended to be! It’s time to get on our knees to pray! It’s time to seek the Lord like we never have before, not just in prayer but in fasting! We need to send out the warning, Satan may be the Prince of darkness and his lies make the clouds and shadows cover the entire earth. Still, our hope is in Jesus Christ!
