WHY TEACH OUR CHILDREN TO CALL UPON JESUS??
Seventeen hundred children were asked what their biggest
fears were in today's society, below are some of the greatest fears, our children face today:
Bullying - Depression - Peer Pressure - Scary Movies or
TV Programs - Hurricanes - Tornado's - and Thunderstorms
(Just to name a few)
***
Children of all ages and race face the above pressures
everyday that we send them off to school. And now they
are also taught to question their own sexuality.
How great the need is for parents not only to pray with
their children, but to arm your child with the fact that they
need just to whisper a prayer any time that they are
being bullied or they become afraid!
Even the simplest of prayers will give them the weapon that they may need to overcome the daily obstacles they may be facing. Instruct your children with prayers they can easily remember and that are age appropriate!
These prayers may be as simple as, "Jesus help me" or Jesus, I'm afraid, please take my fear and help me!" By giving your child these simple prayers, you equip them with a weapon that hurts NO ONE, but gives them an assurance that will calm the fears they carry within.
What better gift can we give our children, especially in a time when bullies and guns are sadly real in today's society!!
TRAGEDY IN NEWTOWN
On December 14, 2012 in Newtown, Connecticut a 20 year old Adam Lanza shot and killed 26 people, including 20 children between the ages of six and seven years old, plus 6 adult staff members. Most of us know it by "The Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting."
Before Lanza even arrived at the school, he shot and killed his mother in their Newtown home. As the police and first- responders arrived at Sandy Hook Elementary, Lanza committed suicide shooting himself in the head. '
This particular incident remains the deadliest mass shooting at either a high school or grade school in U.S. history.
Many teachers and classmates hid in locked and darkened rooms. And, I have to wonder, "Did any of them think to pray?" I say that because I'd like to think that would be the very first thing I would do if I were ever in s similar situation.
HOW THE FOLLOWING SCHOOL-PRAYER
RULING CHANGED AMERICA
On June 25, 1962, the United States Supreme Court declared school-sponsored prayers unconstitutional in the landmark case of Engel -vs- Vitale.
At first, public outrage was instantaneous and extensive for millions of Americans, because, the Court had "kicked God Out of the School System!"
More than five decades later, Engel continues to be disparaged and berated by a good number of people, stating our schools have become "Godless" in so many aspects. And, they are exactly accurate when they say, we've eliminated school-sponsored prayers and set America on the road to a moral and spiritual ruin!!
The Court rulers were correct when they stated their decision would change America and although America has changed -- it's not they way they thought it would be!!
Gone are the days when one's faith (predominantly Christianity) govern the public schools. However, thanks in no small quota of Engel, we are closer thanwe have been in a long time to the full religious envisioned by the First Amendment! At the very least
we are on a level playing field for people of ALL
faith and even those with no convictions of any faith!
So I still wonder, did anyone think to pray that day in December 2012??
Parents, teach your children that the Lord
hears our prayers and He offers us protection when
we place ourselves in His hands!
