Psalm 46:10
There once was a farmer who discovered that he had lost his watch in the barn. It was no ordinary watch, because it held some very sentimental value for him.
After searching high and low among the hay for a long while; he gave up. He then saw a group of children playing near the barn, so he enlisted them to help find the watch.
He promised them, that the person who found it would be rewarded. Hearing this, the children hurried inside the barn and went through and around the entire stack of hay, but still the watch was not found.
The children soon gave up the search also. The farmer was about to go into his house, when a little boy went up to him. The boy asked to be given another chance. The farmer looked at him and thought, "Why not? After all, this kid looks sincere enough."
So the farmer let the little boy back into the barn. After a while the little boy came out with the watch in his hand. The farmer was both happy and surprised.
He asked the boy how he succeeded in finding the watch, while the rest had all failed. The boy replied, "I did nothing but sit on the ground and listen. In the silence, I heard the ticking of the watch and just looked for it in that direction!"
So you have a problem that has you anxious and worried. You have prayed and you have asked others to pray with you, but nothing has changed.
Maybe it's time to "sit still and just trust God!" Maybe it's time to let the Holy Spirit guide your footsteps.
As the Holy Spirit walks by our side, He breathes into us a deeper understanding of spiritual truths. He gives each of us the divine strength to conquer the battles we face on a daily basis.
He is a prayer partner, that helps us communicate our deepest and most intimate desires and problems. He teaches us how to listen to and hear the voice of God.
The Holy Spirit provides us the same fellowship, teachings and guidance that Jesus had with His disciples while here on earth. That personal relationship with Jesus is ours through the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
As we develop our spiritual relationship with God and as we learn to recognize the Holy Spirit's presence, we come to know the calm and peace that the "Comforter" brings to us.
The world does not know the Holy Spirit, because the world lives by carnal feelings, philosophy and intellectual interpretations. They only believe what they can see and prove with their rational minds.
The Holy Spirit cannot be understood by the carnal mind; it must be received through spiritual discernment. That is why God sent the "Comforter" to live in our hearts and impart the things of God, to our inner man.
Truly the Holy Spirit is our comfort in the midst of the storm. He is our peace when we walk in unknown territories and He is our joy in the long dark nights.
My friend, worry will get you no where. But, sitting at the feet of Jesus and trusting Him will bring the hope, joy and peace that you so desire in your situation
