TWO WAYS TO KNOW GOD
There are two ways you can know God: "Casually or intimately." You can know about God, or you can know God. To know "about" God is to know His works. To know God intimately is to know His way.
How do you know God? Do you know about Him, which is casually? Or Do you know Him in a personal relationship with Him, which is more intimately??
MOSES RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD
Moses asked to know God intimately. But most of the people Moses lead in the desert only wanted to know God on the first level.
All they know are the works and miracles of God. They know what God does, but they don't know the ways of God.
WE THINK WE KNOW GOD... BUT DO WE REALLY
Not everybody, even those who claim to be saved, know God intimately. They don't know who God is:
Many will say to me in that day, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name cast out devils?
And in thy name done many wonderful works?" And then
will I profess unto them, "I knew knew you: depart from me,
ye that work iniquity."
MATTHEW 7:22-23
How sad it will be in the resurrection to meet a God "Face to Face" that we have not known "Heart to Heart!"
GETTING TO GENUINELY KNOW GOD
As you go about your day, ask God to show you His ways and to reveal to you how they are in contrast to the way this world thinks.
Align your thoughts with His ways. You will learn God's ways when you fellowship with Him; in His Word, in prayer, and in His presence when you worship and give praise to Him.
O THAT I MAY KNOW HIM
The Apostle Paul wrote: "That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death...
PHILIPPIANS 3:10
Each of us must determine how deeply and intimately we
want to know God. How much are we perceiving, recognizing,
and understanding the wonders of His person more
strongly and clearly.
LORD HELP US TO KNOW YOU... AS WE LEARN OF YOU
Lord may we use this day, to take time to genuinely know you more personally and more intimately. May we immerse ourselves in Your Word to know you more profoundly.
And Lord, may we learn to cling to You to know You more reverently, more passionately, and more tenderly.
ONE DAY WE SHALL KNOW HIM
There is one certainty we will all face one day and that is
death. It is then we will absolutely know whether our
relationship with our Lord God, has been an intimate
one.
On that day it will be too late to change anything about
our relationship with God. May we be able to say:
"Now I have given up everything else! I have found it to
be the only way to really know Christ and to experience
the mighty power that brought Him back to life...
and to find out what it means to suffer and to die
with him.
The crucified and risen Jesus is the model that Paul
desires to embody by walking deeply in His pathway of
death and life -- suffering and resurrection.
