wait, I say, on the Lord.
PSALM 27:13-14
What should our stance be when surrounded by violence and evil in this world?? David is answering this question for us in
PSALM 27. After dealing with our attitude longing, and reaction, he finally addresses our hope.
The believer does not despair before the problem as though there was no remedy for it. Rather, they focus on the day when God's goodness will prevail over all evil and wickedness.
Only the believer who lives with his eyes on the future can live "full of hope" in the present.
We are so crooked and egocentric in our thinking that we make tribulations all about ourselves--how we feel, how we suffer, how we lose. Meanwhile, Scripture makes tribulations all about God.
Therefore, instead of giving yourself over to self-commiseration when surrounded by troubles and evil, trust the Lord, yearn to be with the Lord, seek the Lord, and wait for the Lord.
TODAY: Will you trust the Lord, with no more
need to dread the nights??
