Where does a little girl go... after the innocence of her childhood is stolen by a trusted family member? What does she do when her mother and father are unable or unwilling to protect her?
It has been many years since I was a victim of childhood sexual abuse and while the terror and pain is over, the memories still linger. It took many years before I realized there was an escape from the dread and fear of the hideous acts perpetrated upon me.
I have read and learned God's Word and it promises that He would open the rivers, and make a pathway for us to go through on dry ground. He would carve a byway in the wilderness and He would provide a corridor leading us out of the desert lands.
We need not tarry in the lonely and desolate places of our minds. We can step away from our broken hearts, because God has something "brand-new" waiting just around the corner, for those who will press on! There was and still is a bend in the roadway where my Lord delivered me... and He will do the same for YOU!
We need not stay numb, motionless and marooned in our daily thoughts and feelings. Our God has and will provide a way out of the dry, sun-baked waste lands that others have driven us to.
God's Word states clearly: Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come! It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones. Luke 17:1,2
So while adversity and suffering may come, how terrible it will be for the one who makes it happen. It would be better to be thrown into the deep blue sea with a millstone hung around your neck, than to give even one of God's precious little ones a bad time.
You must not seek revenge or chastise your enemy, when the torment of memories overwhelm you! God is well aware of the evils committed upon you. However, vengeance belongs to God and He won't be trifled with, He avenges his foes!
Remember, storm clouds are the dust He shakes off his feet, thunder is the cry of His heart and lightning is the glimmer in His eyes. The entire earth shakes in fear of God!
My friend, God draws a firm line against sexual acts and abuse of any kind, but especially those performed upon children. When Jesus died on the cross... your suffering became His. He understands and is cognizant of everything you have gone through.
God longs for all who are broken and shamed to come to Him. Jesus, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in His wings and you will go free, leaping with joy... just like a calf freed from his stall and set out to pasture.
