*( Words to Hang it on the Cross,
are posted at the end this narative)
There was a time in my life when I did not realize ALL that the cross meant for me... yes, I knew Jesus died for my sins... and that He died to give me eternal life. Still there was so much more that I had not considered.
His love on the cross extended so much further... it went to all of my heartaches.... along with my burdens and my shame... each trial I go through... they are all there… hanging on the cross! I discovered that all my pain... along with all my healings... every teardrop that I've cried... they are all there… hanging on the cross. I believe that as Jesus looked out into time... as He saw my life and yours… He understood me and He poured out all His love to me and you.
Now we must all keep our eyes fixed on Jesus... because it is on Him that our faith depends… from the beginning to the end. He thought nothing of the disgrace and shame he would bear... because of the joy that was awaiting Him and now He is seated at the right hand of very throne of God. When it came time for Jesus to face the cross... He did not give up!
When runners are in a race, each step is fixed upon getting to the finish line. The runner has to be disciplined… not concentrating on the people cheering them on... or looking from side to side... their eyes must focus on where they are going and getting there as quickly as possible.
We too are running a race and we must never give up! We must keep ourselves disciplined and focus our eyes on Jesus. We must study and fashion how He completed the course. Jesus never lost sight of where he was headed... His rejoicing was in finishing the task that God had given Him. He was able to put up with anything along the pathway... friends that were too tired to pray with Him... a friend that sold Him out and another friend who went as far as to deny Him. The cross, the shame, whatever came... Jesus was prepared and disciplined to deal with it all. Now, Jesus is in His rightful place of honor, seated alongside God His Father.
So when we find ourselves languishing... starting to succumb to all that is in our pathway. When our faith begins to wane and we are wary... we must review all that Jesus endured as a man... He was beaten, spit upon, and nailed to a cross... just for me and you! Go over the scriptures line by line and see the hostility He plowed through... and He did it by keeping His eyes on the goal and maintaining His prayer life with His Father... God!
*In case you you couldn't read the words on the picture above:
If you have a secret sorrow,
A burden or a loss,
An aching need for healing…
Hang It On The Cross
If worry steals your sleep,
And makes you turn and toss,
If your heart is feeling heavy…
Hang It On The Cross
Every obstacle to faith,
or doubt you come across,
Every prayer unanswered…
Hang It On The Cross
For Christ has borne our brokenness,
And dearly paid the cost
To turn our trials to triumph…
Hanging It On The Cross
