Isaiah 55:8-9
It is possible for a husband and wife, twins and maybe even best friends to reflect the same ideas at times. Harmonious and like-minded people do share similar thoughts, however none of us can know the mind of God fully!
Ask yourself, "How does the story below reflect our own lives and how we think at times"??
Three Thinking Trees...
Three trees stood tall on a hill in the woods, they were talking to each other about their hopes and dreams. The first tree said, "One day I hope to be a treasure chest, so I could hold gold, silver and precious gems. I could be adorned and embellished with intricate carving and everyone would see my beauty!"
The second tree responded with his own hopes and dreams of being a mighty ship, so that he could take kings and queens across the waters as he sailed to every corner of the world. "Everyone will feel safe in me because of the strength of my hull"!
Finally the third tree touted, "I want to grow to be the tallest and straightest of trees in our forest, so that people will see me on top of the hill and think of the heavens and God. They will see how close I am to heaven and people will forever remember me"!
After a few years of praying and hoping their dreams would come true, a group of woodsmen came upon the three trees. Standing before the first tree, one woodsman said, "This looks like a strong tree, I think I should be able to sell the wood to a carpenter," and so he began to cut it down. The tree was quite happy, knowing the carpenter would surely make him into an elaborate treasure chest.
Standing at the second tree the woodsman said, "This looks like a strong tree, I should be able to sell it to a shipyard!" And, so the second tree was thrilled because he knew he would someday become a mighty ship!
When the woodsmen came upon the third tree, the tree was a bit frightened because he knew that if they cut him down his dreams would not come true. One of the woodsmen said, "I don't need anything special from my tree, I'll take this one," and he cut the third tree down.
When the first tree arrived at the carpenter's bench, he was made into a feed box for animals. He was then placed in a barn and filled with hay, this was not at all what he had hoped and prayed for!
The second tree was cut and made into an economical fishing boat, his dreams of becoming a mighty ship that carried kings all over the world had come to an end.
Finally, the third tree was cut into two large pieces that the carpenter just left for another day.
As the years went by, the trees had hopelessly forgotten their dreams until one day a man and woman came to the barn. There the woman gave birth and they placed the baby in the feed box, made from the first tree.
The man had hoped for a cradle for the baby, but this manger would have to do. The tree realized the importance of this event and knew that it had held one of the greatest treasures of all time!
Years later, a group of men got in the fishing boat made from the second tree. One of them was tired and fell asleep, but while they were out on the water, a great storm arose and the tree didn't think it was strong enough to keep the men safe.
The men woke their sleeping friend and when He stood up and said, "Peace" the storm quickly ended. At this time, the tree knew that it had carried the King of All Kings in its boat.
Finally, someone came to the third tree and gave it to a man who carried it through the streets as the people mocked him. When they came to a stop, the man was nailed to the tree and raised in the air to die at the top of a hill.
A few days later the tree realized that it was strong enough to stand at the top of the hill and be as close to God as was possible, because Jesus had been crucified on it.
