1 JOHN 1:9
WE ARE DESCENDANTS OF ADAM
We arrive here, children of a common ancestor, Adam. As
such, we have inherited his traits physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Adam allowed sin and death to pursue us and run rampant. Nonetheless, from the beginning, God's plan "reversed the curse!"
GOD SENT HIS ONLY SON TO SAVE US
At just the right moment in human history, Jesus arrived, the Son of God. Through His faithful obedience to His Father, He challenged the twin powers of sin and death and defeated both.
Sin no longer reigns unchecked. Death no longer has the last word in our lives.
WE LIVE BY FAITH
How can we die to a life where sin ruled over us and then invite evil back into our lives? Whatever energy I have left in this failing body of mine, I live by faith in Christ Jesus!
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
GALATIANS 2:20
GOD'S GRACE
I can't dismiss God's grace, and I won't. If being right with God depends on how we measure up to the law, then Christ's sacrifice on the cross was the most tragic waste in history! The "LAW" is a mirror or representation of how Christ Jesus
desires us to live for Him.
Moreover, the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so, might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
ROMANS 5:20-21
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE DO SIN
The word "sin" has virtually disappeared from our modern-
day conversations. We're afraid of sounding judgmental
or of being intolerant.
So we've learned to call sin something else, a mistake, a tendency, a wrong decision, and we ignore it as a normal and
natural behavior. But John calls the church to a radical
holiness where those regularly remember
their sins and seek God's forgiveness.
WHAT SIN DOES TO US
Each sin, the size doesn't matter to God, injures us or someone
else; it imprints on our soul, makes us imperfect, and
separates us from the perfect love of God. However, if we confess our sins to the Lord immediately he will purify our hearts and draw us closer to Him.
WE HAVE AN ADVOCATE
Our debt of sin has been PAID IN FULL!
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin
not. And if any man sins, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the
sins of the whole world.
