Whenever the family complained that he was not spending enough time with them, he reasoned that he was doing all this for them. But he often yearned to spend more time with his family.
The day came when the examination results were announced. To his joy, Father passed, and with distinctions too! Soon after, he was offered a good job as a senior supervisor which paid handsomely.
Like a dream come true, Father could now afford to provide his family with life’s little luxuries like nice clothing, fine food and vacation abroad.
However, the family still did not get to see father for most of the week. He continued to work very hard, hoping to be promoted to the position of manager. In fact, to make himself a worthily candidate for the promotion, he enrolled for another course in the open university.
Again, whenever the family complained that he was not spending enough time with them, he reasoned that he was doing all this for them. But he often yearned to spend more time with his family.
Their Father’s hard work paid off and he was promoted. Jubilantly, he decided to hire a maid to relieve his wife from her domestic tasks. He also felt that their three-room flat was no longer big enough, it would be nice for his family to be able to enjoy the facilities and comfort of a condominium. Having experienced the rewards of his hard work many times before, Father resolved to further his studies and work at being promoted again.
The family still did not get to see much of him. In fact, sometimes their Father had to work on Sundays entertaining clients. Again, whenever the family complained that he was not spending enough time with them, he reasoned that he was doing all this for them. But he often yearned to spend more time with his family.
As expected, this Father’s hard work paid off again and he bought a beautiful condominium overlooking the coast of Singapore. On the first Sunday evening at their new home, Father declared to his family that he decided not to take anymore courses or pursue any more promotions. From then on he was going to devote more time to his family.
However.... their Father did not wake up the next day.

How much "stuff" is enough? How much "money" is enough? In this world the answer is, "Just a little bit more!"
However, God's Word tells us: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Matthew 6:33,34
If our Lord gives His attention to the appearance of wildflowers, don't you think He will be there for you? Do you know that He loves and yearns to take care of His children?
We must not be so preoccupied with "getting" that we fail to see what God is "giving" to us! This world concerns itself and frets over always having the "next and newest" things! But, we must not trouble ourselves with thoughts of our everyday needs and we should not have angst and tensions about having every "new thing" that comes along.
Seek God, and know He wants and has only the best for you, and that our everyday needs will be met. We can not get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow, God promises to provide, just as He does for the birds, and still He cares so much more for us!!
God will help you and He will bring the answers to whatever hardship you may find yourself in today! He only request that we "seek Him first" and then trust Him and know, that He will be there to meet our every need.
So, "How much stuff is enough? How much money is enough?" In our walk with the Lord Jesus, "Exactly what we have for this day, for all our tomorrows, are in God's hands!"
