HELP WANTED: Office Boy
A jobless man was reading the help wanted section of the newspaper. Soon he found himself applying for the position of 'office boy' at a very large firm.
The HR manager interviewed him, gave him a pre-employment test, and then asked him to clean the men's bathroom floor. The jobless man did all that he was asked to do. And, he did it with joy in his heart along with a smile on his face.
"You are hired!" the HR manager exclaimed, "Give me your email address, and I will send you the application to fill out." The man replied "I don't have a computer or an email address".
"Oh, I am so sorry," said the HR manager, "if you don't have an email that means you do not exist. And who doesn't exist, cannot have the job."
The jobless man left feeling very defeated. He had a family to feed with only ten dollars in his pocket. So, he did what he only knew to do -- he
knelt down on the side of the street and began to pour out his heart to God. "Lord Jesus, I need work to feed my children. Please, help me to know what to do and guide my footsteps."
When he was finished praying, he said to himself, "I may be weak, but with Christ Jesus I am strong. With God's grace upon him, he decided to go to the supermarket and buy a crate of tomatoes. He then sold the tomatoes door to door. In less than two hours, he succeeded to double his ten dollars.
He repeated the operation 3 times, and returned home with $60.00. The man realized that he could feed his family this way. Each day he would go out early and return late from selling tomatoes. Thus, his money doubled and then tripled every day.
It wasn't long before he bought a cart, then a truck, and then he had his own fleet of delivery vehicles.
Five years later, the man was one of the biggest food retailers in his state. And, as he started to plan his family's future, he decided that he must have life insurance.
He called an insurance broker, and chose a protection plan. When the conversation was concluded, the broker asked him for his email address. The man replied: "I don't have an email address."
The broker replied curiously, "You don't have an email address, and yet have succeeded to build an empire. Do you imagine what you could have been if you had an email address?"
The man thought for a while, and replied: "An office boy!"
This jobless man was a living demonstration of Christ's power in him. It didn't matter that he had only ten dollars in his pocket -- for he had Christ Jesus living in his heart!
He was content with his troubles and difficulties for Christ's sake. He may have been weak -- but as he prayed, he was reassured that God was his strength!
God is our help, refuge and deliverer. He is always with us even in the toughest, most difficult times his grace will sustain us.
We must learn to call upon God! Only then will we feel the peace and presence of God in our lives. I pray that you may hear God's voice and be encouraged, strengthened with renewed hope.
Is anyone crying for help? God is listening and he is ready to rescue you!
