continue to find favor with you.
Remember that this nation is your people."
EXODUS 33:13
QUESTIONS FOR GOD
Moses, was talking with the Lord and said to Him, "You have been telling me, 'Take these people to the Promised Land,' but You haven't told me whom You will send with me." You say, "You are my friend, that I have found favor before thee."
"Please, Lord if this is really so, guide me clearly along the way you want me to travel, so that I will understand You and walk acceptably before you. For don't forget that this nation is Your people."
GOD'S REPLY
The Lord spoke to Moses saying, "I myself will go with you and give you success." God said this because Moses didn't want to move one more step from where they were, if God didn't go with them.
God assures Moses and says, "Yes, I will do what you have asked, for you have certainly found favor with me, and you are my friend." Moses had one more request... "To see God's Glory!"
MAN MAY NOT SEE GOD'S FACE
The Lord replied, "I will make my goodness pass before you, and I will announce to you the meaning of my name, Jehovah, the Lord. I will show kindness and mercy to anyone I want to."
"But you may not see the glory of my face, for man may not see me and live. However, stand here on this rock beside me, and when my glory goes by, I will put you in the cleft of the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. Then I will remove my hand, and you shall see my back but not my face."
GOD'S WRATH MERITED
The people had earned and deserved God's wrath and they had forfeited God's favorable presence, and all the benefit and comfort of that, and here Moses is begging God for the return of His favor upon them.
Moses was not content with the answer from God, that spoke of "favor for himself only!" He wanted to gain a promise, an expressed promise, for the people too, or he would not rest.
MOSES BEGS GOD FOR MORE
Moses wanted the same thing for the people of Israel. He thought it not enough to get to the promise land alone, he wanted the Lord to take all His people.
Moses was not counted as an unreasonable beggar, and he was grateful for God's promise. Still, he genuinely wanted the people of Israel to see the promised land. Moses was encouraged when God said,
"I will do this thing also that thou has spoken."
OUR DESIRES ARE SIMILAR
Every gracious and generous soul thinks it not enough to get to heaven themselves, but we too pray for all our family and friends... to find the Lord and go to heaven with us!
God grants as long as we ask, He gives liberally, and does not scold or chastise us. Do you see the power of prayer here??
PRAY AND KEEP PRAYING
When he has done much, He is still willing to do more: "I will do this also," He told Moses. All glory be to God, who by his mighty power at work within us "is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask" or even dream of-infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes.
Be quick to ask, and to seek, and to knock, and to continue to pray always and to not faint or quit! See and learn the riches of God's goodness. Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us... EPHESIANS 3:20
GOD CAN AND GOD WILL
When we petition God we will see the riches of His goodness towards us. Through Christ's intercession, and purely through His own virtue, not of anything in those of us for whom He intercedes; it is because of His mercy and grace.
God can do anything! Do you really know... and believe that? He can do far more than we can ever imagine or request. He does it not by pushing us around, but by working in us, His Spirit deeply and gently moves within us.
And I say unto you, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
