ROMANS 3:10
For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God..
ROMANS 3:23
BULLS-EYE
There was a man who was walking through the country side when he came upon a barn. On the side of the barn there were a number of targets and right smack in the middle of each of target was an arrow, right in the middle. They were called a bulls-eye!
So he stopped to congratulate the farmer and said, "You must be a great marksman!" And the farmer answered, "No, there is a man in our community who is feeble minded and he goes around and he takes his bow and arrow and shoots arrows into my barn and then he paints targets around them."
OUR BROKENNESS
Brokenness--it can me a lot of things to a lot of different people. It may refer to physical disorder, it may mean your heart has been shattered by someone, maybe you're in a broken marriage or just experienced the loss of a loved one.
IT MIGHT EVEN BE... a feeble old man who no longer comprehends how age has stolen his ability to shoot an arrow and hit its target -- its bulls-eye!! And suddenly he is broken and hopeless!
FINDING HOPE IN OUR BROKENNESS
Hope is birthed out of our brokenness, even though we may not
understand or like the package by which it comes to us.
A Believers affections are like Mary's precious ointment that she poured on the head of Jesus... the odor filled the entire house with a sweet savor. However, until the alabaster box was broken, the ointment could not flow, nor diffuse its scent."
So it is that... the most graciousness of affections flow out of a broken heart. A genuine Believer's love, whether towards God or man, is a humble broken-hearted love.
HOPE IS A TREASURE FOUND IN GOD'S WORD
Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, (a great treasure) went and sold all that he head and bought it.
MATTHEW 13:46
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted bu not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. 2 CORINTHIANS 4:7-10
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. PSALM 51:17
JESUS PASSIONATELY LOVES YOU
Do YOU realize how much our God thirsts for you. How fiercely and madly he loves you... even when you don't feel worthy. When your not accepted by others, or even by ourselves sometimes, Jesus is the one who ALWAYS accepts you.
You don't have to be perfect or right on target for Jesus to love you. You just need to BELIEVE that YOU are precious to Him.
COME AS YOU ARE
Will you open your heart to Him and come to Jesus just as you are.. You can bring ALL YOUR BROKENNESS to Him and pour out your heart to Him--You must know somewhere in your thinking that Jesus loves you...!
The innermost meaning of the cross, is that we can come to Jesus just as we are, broken but humbled with the HOPE that Jesus gave his life, and loved us--before we even realized just how much he cared for us.
We love Him, because He first loved us. 1 JOHN 4:19
