LUKE 23:33
WAY BACK WHEN...
At the Budapest Congress Center, an image of the classic American TV show, 'The Brady Bunch' appeared illuminated on a giant screen. At the podium is Jack Hanick, a former Fox News producer who describes television as
"at the center of a spiritual war."
Hanick points to the 1950's as the golden age, when
"the father was the central figure" and "the mother stayed at home." (Now don't get upset yet...lol) The Brady's were not his wholesome ideal but the beginning of the decay: of a "blended family" of stepparents and stepchildren, where the father
"has power over only half of the children," that is if
the father is in the picture at all!
IT ONLY GETS WORSE...
Let's fast forward to today's sitcoms, Modern Family
"idealizes same-sex marriage." This, Hanick said, is
the latest chapter in "TV's role in the destruction of the traditional family." He claimed: "THIS IS A WAR,
BUT IT IS NOT A WAR TO BEWAGED IN THE
PHYSICAL WORLD!"
We have to open our eyes my friends, and ask ourselves,
What is more important in our families; "having more by working more" or "having families that are blessed by
praying fathers and mothers?"
THINK THIS THROUGH
These are amazing stories of our world then and now, with
two contrasting possibilities. We can either build prisons
for our children or through prayer build fruitful lives
that bless others.
Juvenile detention facilities are "filled to capacity" and the
states can't afford to hire good people because they can't live
on the money the governments can afford to pay. We can't
look at these facilities and think about "there's not enough
money," these are our children who will grow up in a
state facility that can only offer the bare minimums
of what our children really need.
MAY THE CHURCH... BE THE CHURCH
Jack Hanick says, "All we can do is pray," and that is true
we absolutely need to pray, but we also need men
and women to volunteer some of their time and devote it to these teen-agers who desperately need someone to care! Someone to demonstrate the love of Jesus!!
If not in our own homes... then where??
It's also time we began to intercede for these teens and ask
the Lord what He would have us do. If we can't go, we can
certainly pray, but lets face it, "these kids and young
adults need Christian mentors!"
IT IS NOT JUST NON-BELIEVERS IN THESE FACILITIES
A while back I wrote about Prodigal sons and daughters
that come from Christian homes who find themselves also
in state juvenile centers, foster homes, and even jails. The
change has to begin with loving as Christ Jesus loved us.
But God commended his love towards us, in that, while we
were yet sinners, Christ died for us...
ROMANS 5:8
As we think about the importance of learning about
these kids, and interceding for the entire system,
our own kids might just come to mind.
IT'S TIME PEOPLE - IT'S TIME TO SHOW
WE CARE AND WE LOVE THROUGH JESUS! IT'S TIME WE
FOLLOW HIS EXAMPLE!
