PROVERBS 8:6-11
WE ALL MAY LISTEN BUT DO WE ALL HEAR
How many of us have sat in a classroom listening to our teacher or our college professor and when the class is over we haven't processed anything nor can we recall what had been stated?? Or the proverbial conversation with our spouses
and yet one partner hasn't heeded even one word!
On the other hand I often wonder what charming sounds
have we missed simply because we were so busy talking
or so engrossed with something else that we never heard
any other sounds? I love to wake up in the morning to the many delightful sounds of birds singing or even children
playing??
So, why are so many pleasant sounds never heard??
MANY TIMES THE WRITER IN PROVERBS REMINDS US TO
PAY ATTENTION!
Throughout the book of Proverbs there is a great emphasis on
"honorable and sensible things" and "what is truthful and right!" It is a book of trustworthy counsel!
The very first word in the verse above describes how we
should acknowledge and respond: LISTEN!
Those who refuse to listen to what their family or friends are saying will fail to understand them. Those who seldom
listen to the birds singing, a child's laughter or engaging
music, miss the "Glory of God's Creation!"
And those who fail to pay attention to "Wisdom from
Scripture" miss the counseling and protection it
truly brings!
WISE COUNSEL
Advice from God's Word is wholesome and good. There is nothing evil in it! God's words are plain and clear to anyone
who will just give an ear and take to heart what is
being said.
God's instructions for us are so much more valuable than any
"silver or gold!" They will not only give advice, they will forewarn and encourage you!
However, We must all learn to GENUINELY LISTEN and
CONCENTRATE when reading Scripture!

Stop and take a moment, to hear the wonderful sounds
around you because they positively are
"Gifts from God!"
