Philippians 4:19
We are not rich by any means... but neither are we poor! Still, my God has always provided what we have had need of!
Some of God's blessings come to us very clearly (such as a visit, a card, or a meal), but there are other times when our God sends us "Blessings In Disguise!!" The following story tells us of one such time when a man's blessing, came in disguise:
A man survived a shipwreck and was able to swim to a small, uninhabited island where everyday he would scan the horizon for help, but none came straight-away. Frantically he would pray each day for God to rescue him, and still no help came.
As his hope waned, he realized his need for shelter from the elements, and for his scant possessions that had washed ashore. The man gathered driftwood and branches with large leaves and made himself a quaint and boorish hut.
One day as he roamed and prowled the island to gather food he returned to his shanty to find smoke billowing into the sky and his shanty in flames. He looked toward the heavens in anger and exhausted, he cried out, "God, how could you do this to me? Is it not enough that I am stranded and alone??"
Weary and tired he settled himself down and fell asleep on the sandy shores. The next morning he awoke to the sound of a ship that was approaching the island ready to rescue anyone they could find.
He began to shout and wave his hands eager to get the ship's attention. A small crew from the ship paddled a dinghy to the island shore where they found the weary and tattered man.
"How did you know I was here?" the scruffy man asked his rescuers. One crew member quickly replied, "We saw your smoke signal!"
