I just love animals and animal pictures! The first time I looked at this picture I only saw the deer and the cat... I had missed the fawn completely. What about you? Did you see the fawn the first time?
It is so easy to see someone who is outgoing... a person who has a big personality. They seem to fit the worlds definition of popular... with fine clothes and a modern look. Still most of the time... it is just who they are that attracts others to them and visa versa.
Look at this deer... I'm thinking it's either a second born (they have lots of personality) or a male (more often the males have antlers). He had to walk up some steps... because as you look out into the picture there is depth. I wonder what drew him up there...a quiet little cat with a big meow?? He doesn't seem to have any problem as he tries to get to know the cat in the picture. He puts his nose right to the glass door... he has to smell the person behind the door holding the camera... doesn't he?? I then have to ask myself.... how did I miss that cute little fawn in the background?
As Christians, our attention to people... should not only be to the affluent, well dressed or those who are outgoing. We must also engage those who are bashful or cautious. We must look... so we can share the love of Jesus Christ... and we must never let public opinion influence how we live or respond to others.
Jesus showed us by example, when He found a man named Zaccheaus who was small in stature. He even wanted and asked to have dinner with Zaccheaus... and where was this little man when Jesus saw him... he was up in a sycamore tree. Jesus was also aware of the woman who touched Him... even tho great crowds were pressing in and around Him. He knew who she was and acknowledged her great faith. I asked myself, "where was she when Jesus noticed her??" She had to be crawling on the ground... because she touched the hem of His garment.
When we give our attention to only those who make themselves known... or those that are very extroverted and outgoing... we are apt to miss out on so many blessings. We need to look around and try to find those who are maybe a bit sheepish or look a little boring... they were important to Jesus and they should be just as important to us! Very often, these people are very compassionate... they are kindred spirits and even soul mates!
