My little 10 year old daughter, Sarah was born with a muscle missing in her foot and wears a brace at all times. She came home one beautiful spring day to tell me she had competed in "field day at school" - that's where they have lots of races and other competitive events.
Because of her leg support, my mind raced as I tried to think of some sort of encouraging words for my Sarah, things that I could say to her about not letting this get her down - but before I could say anything, she said, "Daddy, I won two of the races!" I couldn't believe it!
And then Sarah said, "I had an advantage." I knew it! I thought she must have been given a head start... some kind of physical advantage. But again, before I could say anything, she said, "Daddy, I didn't get a head start... my advantage was... I had to try harder!"
Story courtesy of a regular reader and his lovely little girl...
Sarah raced... and she did so without worry! I believe Sarah saw the "winner's tape" at the end of the race and had determined in her mind that she could "WIN!" She just had to try a little bit harder then her opponents... she had to put her mind in sync with her heart.
It was her belief system... that caused her faith rise to the occasion and do the very best that she could do! And... that faith brought about a win... one that most people could not see!
As Christians, a major part of our existence is to trust in God! It is our faith, the firm foundation of our beliefs, that makes our lives worth living. It is what we hold onto, for the things we can not see or understand.
To trust in something so completely, with confidence and hope is not always an easy thing to do. Yet, with complete assurance in Christ Jesus, our hearts compel us to reach out and believe! And when we do reach out... we find that our faith can far exceed any expectations we might have had.
Are you trusting the Lord for something? Do you need a miracle? The "winner's tape" may not be visible... but it's out there! Keep trusting! Keep believing! Keep your eyes on Jesus... and you will see what He can do for you!! You will be a victor, able to conquer and overcome!!
Your trial is a "lesson in heart!" Are you waiting to see just what you believe in... or are you able to believe in what you are waiting to see?
