DEUTERONOMY 28:2
ARE OUR LIVES ABUNDANTLY FULL
On Passover a key Hebrew word is proclaimed, that word is "Dayenu!" The word Dayenu simply means, "It would have been enough" or "It would have been sufficient!"
The Jewish people proclaim, "Had He just delivered us out of Egypt but not led us to the Promise Land, "Dayenu!" It surely would have been enough.
HOW MUCH IS ENOUGH
A lot of people live their lives frustrated because they never seem to have enough, they always want more. I remember this simple saying, "How much is enough?" The answer was, "Just a little bit more!"
This applies to Believers as well as people living in this world without Christ Jesus. Just a little bit more... may be enough!
JOY OF JOYS
Nonetheless the secret of true JOY and contentment is not in getting more. The truth is the secret in "Dayenu" - "It would have been enough."
It doesn't matter how much you have, if your heart requires more, you will never be happy and you will never have the JOY we all desire. Still, if you have a Dayenu heart, a heart that says, "It's enough... it's more than enough," then you will have JOY in everything!
LA CRE'ME DE LA CRE'ME - THE BEST OF THE BEST
If we are saved, we have salvation, the riches of heaven, we are saved from hell, we have eternal life, and the love of God unspeakable and forever! That's "Dayenu!" Open the eyes of your heart to thank God for how blessed we all are!
In fact, more blessed, more than rich, more than wonderful. For if He had only saved us from hell, "Dayenu!" Everything else is truly the "Icing on the Cake" or - "Dayenu!"
THE CELEBRATION AND GRATEFULNESS OF PASSOVER
The Jewish people sing the song "Dayenu" as part of the Jewish holiday of Passover. This traditional and up-beat Passover song is over one thousand years old.
The song is about being grateful to God for all the gifts He gave the Jewish people, such as taking them out of slavery, giving them the Torah and Shabbat, and had God only given one of the gifts, it still would have been enough.
WHAT ABOUT US
As Gentiles we have been adopted into the Jewish Heritage!
So it is lovely to learn a little about the Jewish culture!
This is to show much greater appreciation for all of them as a whole. Today it might just be an awesome testimony to write down on a piece of paper, the many blessings in our own lives.
Lifting it up to our Lord Jesus with a shout of, "DAYENU..." for if God gave us nothing more, we would truly be a blessed people!
