And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest. Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah! (or pause and ponder this). I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.
Psalm 55:6-8
When we think about what actually happens in a thunder- storm it can be quite frightening, similar to the turmoils in our own lives! The winds can churn and beat vigorously against our homes, there may be relentless rising waters and the trees may bend, their branches breaking, uprooting or even carrying them away.
When we take a closer look after the storm we may see that the winds may have just loosened the roots or blew the buds off. The violent gale might have left opened gaps and crevices around the base or trunk of the trees.
Still, all in all, those cracks tend to expand, allowing for more deeper sources of nourishment and water, yet what we see may lead us to believe the tree is going to die or is already dead.
Quite often there is a need for specialized tree services to come in and cut away the broken branches, leaving hefty piles for the city to come and pick up. What's left of the tree often looks weathered and lifeless, the buds are now gone and the remaining timbers are bare.
Still, stick around, these trees may well be on the road to recovery, very soon you just may see them grow healthier and more powerful. And, come harvest time there will be exceptionally large and more desirable fruit to bear!
So, if you are like me right now...where the winds of your life are blowing forcefully, shaking you to the core and you are facing one of your most fierce physical, financial, emotional or spiritual storms, take heart! Our God has His own personal and specific tree service, He will come and remove the broken and battered parts of your life!
In the midst of your wildest windstorm, you may not even be aware that God is absorbing and developing deeper spiritual roots in you! Our Lord Jesus is birthing, expanding and deepening your desire to be fully restored to the higher grounds that you once thrived upon!
He is giving you a heart that runs from the storm, straight into His arms for the vital improvements you need to weather the storms of your life! God is helping you escape the dry, barren lands that have held you captive far too long, you areacquiring a heightened furtherance, a hunger and thirst for His bountiful table, His living waters and an earnest hunger for His righteousness!
You are becoming a skillful and seasoned soldier of the cross, the battle-scarred memories will eventually make you stronger should another cloud-burst emerge. And, eventually, you will realize that if God had taken you "out of the storm" your hunger for growth and a greater thirst for Him might never have been awakened!
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal!
2 Corinthians 4:17-18
More simply said, "Do don't give up, even though it looks like everything is falling apart be it physical, financial, emotional or spiritual. God is reviving in you a new life and not one day will go by without his ever expanding grace and love!
Our possessions... our feelings...the things we see and hold now are here today, but will be gone tomorrow. However, the things that we can't see or hold onto now will last for eternity!!
So... DON'T GIVE UP!!!
